The Nile is the world's longest river, and Uganda is fortunate to be its source, as it flows into the Mediterranean from Africa's greatest freshwater lake (Lake Victoria). It is one of Africa's most popular tourist locations, gaining the title of "East Africa's Adventure Tourism Destination." Some of the primary activities you may enjoy within Jinja near the Nile's source include white water rafting on the Nile's rapids, bungee jumping into the Nile, kayaking, motorboat tours, quad biking, and horseback safaris.

As it meanders through Uganda tourism sites like Murchison Falls National Park, the powerful Nile River offers many stunning views. Several falls, including Bujagali, Kalangala, and Murchison, are a must-see. In this safari, we aim to highlight the best Nile experiences in Uganda, as well as a few extras related to the environment and water.

DAY 1: Airport Pickup and Kampala City Tour (47km)

Our team will be waiting for you at the airport upon arrival for pick up and transfer you to check-in into a pre-booked hotel in Kampala or Entebbe for the needed refreshing and if time allows we will proceed and take you on a city tour for an exciting introduction visit. The fresh air from Africa’s largest freshwaters (Lake victoria) will welcome you to a very hospitable Kampala city experience, with a cocktail of historical sites visits, shopping, foodies and nightlife experiences.

 

DAY 2: The Jinja Experience (150 km)

We will depart the capital city - Kampala after an early breakfast and go to Jinja, the source of the majestic Nile River. On the way, we'll stop at Mabira Forest for ziplining on the Forest Canopy Super Skyway, which takes you soaring between the rainforest's highest trees, and then at Sezibwa Falls for a nature walk with an interesting cultural history. And these will compensate for the majority of the morning hours.

When we get to Jinja, we'll do white-water rafting in the Nile rapids or bungee leap over the Nile's source from one of the world's most stunning bungee jumping spots. If time permits, we will end the day with a Nile sunset sail.

After the adrenaline rush, we'll return to our hotel in one of the mid-range lodges, such as Haven Lodge or Explorers River Camp, or high range accommodation like the Rainforest Lodge.

DAY 3:  The Sipi Falls-Mt. Elgon experience (196km)

 

After finishing our early morning breakfast, we'll go to Sipi Falls through Mbale, a lovely hamlet at the foot of Mount Elgon. The route to Sipi Village is a scenic marvel of mountain views and waterfalls; this location is also rich in heritage and culture.

After lunch, we'll take a journey to the beautiful Sipi Falls, passing through traditional African bandas, banana plantations, and maize fields on our way to the many waterfalls. The Sipi Falls are a series of three waterfalls that cascade down Mt Elgon from various locations. The guidebook – Lonely Planet – dubbed them "the most romantic waterfalls" because of their beauty.

Consider bringing your swimsuit because several of the pools below the waterfalls are suitable for swimming. In addition to trekking the waterfalls, if time permits, we can stop by a home for an Arabica coffee tasting before travelling to Rafiki Lodge Sipi, Sipi River Lodge, or Sipi Falls resort for dinner and sleep.

 

DAY 4: Travel to Murchison Falls (473km)

Long drive to Murchison Falls National Park, where the Nile waters rush through a 7-meter-wide valley on their way to Lake Albert. No words can adequately express how it feels while at the Murchison Falls.

We'll stay at a chosen lodge for dinner, a bonfire, and a camping adventure.

 

DAY 5: The Murchison Falls Experience. (40km)

We will go on a half-day wildlife drive on the northern bank of the Nile, which is also the lowest point in the country, guided by a ranger, after early morning breakfast. Buffalos, Rothschild giraffes, elephants, Jackson hartebeests, oribis, waterbucks, lions, and a variety of antelopes and savannah woodland birds are among the animals to look out for. Our afternoon pleasure will be a two-hour boat ride upstream to the bottom of Murchison Falls. We'll see elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birds up close before travelling to Red Chilli Rest Camp for dinner and an overnight stay, with the option of upgrading to Paraa Safari Lodge.

 

DAY 6: Travel Back to Kampala Via Ziwa Rhino. (338 km)

As we return to Kampala for the Murchison Falls, we'll stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary north of Kampala to track the African White Rhinos on foot before heading to our suggested locations of lodging in Kampala or Entebbe for dinner and a night's stay while you wait for your flight.

 

DAY 7: Hotel Pickup for Departure at Entebbe Airport. (47km)

Enriched with an experience of a lifetime and unforgettable memories you will say goodbye to the Pearl of Africa. Depending on the time of departure you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. We are looking forward to seeing you again!
